DEA Ramps Up Production of Psychedelics for Research Purposes
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) recently announced new production quotas for controlled substances under schedules 1 and 2. The new quotas show increases in the supply of psychedelics such as ibogaine, psilocybin and psilocyn, which the federal agency notes shall be used for research purposes. Specifically, the 2024 quotas for psilocyn and psilocybin have risen to 36,000 grams and 30,000 grams respectively. Ibogaine’s quota has also risen, from 150 grams to 210 grams, to help meet the increasing demand for research.
