Sussex Vegan Restaurant Focuses on Hemp Dishes

The hemp plant can be grown for fiber, hemp seeds, or CBD. Hemp is a Cannabis Sativa L variety, which is a cousin to marijuana, but it has close to zero levels of THC, and this makes hemp non-psychoactive. Hemp seeds are termed as a healthy superfood that has high protein content, and it is full of vitamins and minerals. Hemp is also popular because it is environmentally friendly.

On Saturday, March 7, a new food and entertainment joint, The Hempist restaurant and lounge bar, will be opening along the Hastings seafront in the UK. The restaurant will serve vegan burgers, hotdogs, and even doner kebab meat, they will all contain hemp seeds as an ingredient. They will also be serving hemp leaf tea and hemp and hop mead.

A very reputable reggae DJ and One Love Festival promoter, Dan Wiltshire, will be opening the Hempist bar and restaurant lounge. Wiltshire has been spinning reggae vinyl for more than two decades.

Wiltshire said that one acre of hemp takes out a large amount of carbon dioxide, thus reducing global warming. The hemp plant is naturally resistant to pests. Besides, farmers require little water to grow hemp.

Hemp also has a high amount of omega-9-fatty acids, which is an excellent source of vitamin E and other minerals such as potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium, iron, and zinc. Hemp is high in fiber and low in sugar.

Hempist burgers made with hemp and seitan patty would also come with fresh vegetables and home-made sauces. They would also be serving a ‘Belly Buster’ which contains double cooked chips with hemp and seitan meat, vegan hotdog, and all the trimmings.

Also on the menu are classic hotdog and burgers, Jamaican cuisine, as well as a traditional Jamaican patty and a Jack Bean Pattie. The Jamaican patties contain a spicy filling seasoned with tropical herbs and spices, all covered in a golden vegan flaky pastry crust.

The Hempist restaurant and bar lounge has a drinks menu that includes classic Jamaican lager Red Stripe and vegan and organic wines, hemp leaf tea, hemp and hop mead, and Jamaican cocktails. They also serve coffee as well as a selection of healthy and soft drinks.

The Hempist will also be running a meal offer on select days where people can buy a pint of Red Stripe and get a Hemp Classic Patty for only £6 ($7.73).

Hemp seeds can also be added to any salad. Hemp seeds help in digestion, reduce bowel syndrome, and normalize the gastrointestinal tract. They also help lower blood pressure and decrease the chances of a heart attack.

Industry watchers believe not even the leading hemp sector actors like MCTC Holdings Inc. (OTC: MCTC) would have imagined that eateries specializing in hemp dishes would have opened this soon after hemp legalization, but as with all things hemp, everything is possible!
